10 GHz Beacon Test

10 GHz beacon test with VHF Design LO PLL-SHF oscillator in autonomous mode

Received leakage from the oscillator with my portable 10 GHz station (0.6 m dish and Kuhne Electronics transverter 144 MHz/10 GHz). Measured 8 mW output at 10.368 GHz and 5 V/max 200 mA. Next test will be with a Leo Bodnar GPSDO at 10 MHz connected to the oscillator´s external refernce frequency input.

Beacon autonomous mode and CW text transmission

Don´t forget to type 10.000000 as reference frequency. Click on Save for transfer to flash memory in the oscillator. Remove USB connection and use separate 5 V connection. Max current consumption is 200 mA.

Oscillator mode controlled from a PC

Don´t forget to type 10.000000 as reference frequency.

Note that the oscillator also can be used as an oscillator or beacon in any ham band from 50 MHz to 10 GHz.

There are many applications than using the oscillator as a beacon. One example is that you can use it for quick checking a COMPLETE receiving chain incl. antenna of a portable 10 GHz station in the field. Also for frequency calibration. A logperiodic antenna 0.68-11 GHz in possible mechanical solution is shown in the photos:
